Cerebral Palsy
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines cerebral palsy as “a group of disorders that affect a person’s ability to move and maintain balance and posture.” See link on Resource page to learn more about this condition.
Cerebral palsy treatment can improve or sustain a child’s abilities. OT focuses on optimizing upper body function, improving posture, and making the most of a child’s daily routine. Occupational therapists help children with CP discover new ways of accomplishing everyday activities, like dressing, grooming, toileting, riding the bus, feeding, and participating in extracurricular activities and sports.
